OUR HISTORY

Samoa Cricket is the home of cricket in Samoa. We are a non for profit Sport organisation that is responsible for the development, promotion and governance of cricket in the country. We are an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and one of the 106 member countries worldwide. Samoa Cricket is a member of the East Asia Pacific Region and an associate member among the region’s nine member countries which include Japan, Philippines, South Korea, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Cook Island and Fiji.

Since the inception of formalised structured pathways, cricket has grown to the point where we now have a participation base of over 30,000 members from both islands of Upolu and Savaii, and the sport continues to grow.

The sport is played in schools, villages and the wider communities including programs for Nanas (grandmothers and mothers) and people/children with disabilities, and has robust local junior and senior competitions.

On the international stage, the Samoa Women’s Team Nafanua, is 16th in the International World Ranking in the T20 Format and ranked 12th in the Commonwealth. Nafanua is currently the reigning Pacific Games Champions winning back to back gold medals in the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea and 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.

Cricket enjoys links with traditional Samoan Kilikiti, ensuring that the sport is enjoyed nation-wide.
